BBQ at home

Welcome to 7th Kitchen!

Yesterday's morning, I had fresh baked Chocolate Croissant. It was so buttery and crispy and yummy! Well, I did not make it from a scratch. I bought this frozen Chocolate Croissant from Trader Joe's (Picture of the box below). I never tried this one before but I found it the other day and decided to give it a try.

You just need to leave the frozen croissant out at the room temperature at the night before. During the night, it will rise and get bigger and waiting for you to wake up. You just pop in to the oven for 20mins and you will be a delicious warm chocolate croissant! This was such a treat! I loved this for a nice relazed weekend morning with my Cafe au lait.

In the afternoon, we had some friends over and enjoyed BBQ. It was a perfect weather for BBQ and everybody enjoyed all the food and drinks. For me, it is so luxurious to be able to have BBQ at home. We had Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Chicken Wings, etc. Here is a picture of my Hot Dog.

I also made Guacamole for Tortilla Chips. I love Guacamole. Well, I love Avocado. I wish I had a avocado tree at home. I wonder if it is easy to grow avocado tree at home. Well, we don't have a space for it now but someday when I have a house with garden, I would love to have a avocado tree in my garden. That will be one of my dream :-)

This Guacamole is so easy to make and everyone loves it. So here is the recipe. (Well, it is just cutting and mixing together)

Ripe Avocado    3
White Onion     1/4
Tomato             small 1
Garlic              2 cloves
lime                 1
Green Chile    1 (remove seeds and ribs)
Salt                  a little bit

1. Chop onion, tomato and green chile into tiny pieces.
2. Mix 1 with Avocado and add lime juice and grated garlic.
3.  Add some salt
4. Enjoy

If you would like, you can add some cilantro. And if you don't like garlic, you can reduce the amount of garlic. This is so easy and yummy! Please try it and if you liked it, please let me know!

Chicken with onion sauce & Lemon Pie

Hello! Welcome to 7th Kitchen! Last night, I made chicken breast with onion sauce. This recipe was from a book which I bought in Japan. This onion sauce has some mustard, rice vinegar, sugar etc so it is kind of sweet and sour. I like the taste of this sauce. It also goes well with rice.

I am always impressed with how Japanese meal comes with many small side dishes on the side. Often times, you see rice, soup, main course and some little side dishes. How can they make all those dishes everyday with limited time? Probably all the side dishes are something which you can make ahead and keep in the fridge. But still, I think it is great because you get to eat many different ingredients.

As for me, I am still struggling making one dish. Normally, if I make a soup, that is all we have for dinner. Sometimes,  I can make salad on the side but that is about it. I think it will take a while for me to make a few side dishes everyday like many Japanese household do.

I am still a learning process. I love cooking and I would love to try all the different kind of cuisine which I never tried to make before. I think it is so exciting that there are so many different kind of flavors in the world.

Anyhow, since it was pretty hot yesterday, I made this lemon pie which is very refreshing. For me, lemon pie screams summer. I used store bought pie dough. and made the filling myself. Here is the picture. This is before I put whipped cream topping.

This is after putting whipped cream topping. It was really good. Not too sweet but not too tart.
I am having some people over tomorrow so we can have this lemon pie with some BBQ!

It seems like I have been eating so much this weekend. I will try to be good next week. I will ride my new bicycle and go back to my Yoga class to be fit again. But that is next week. Today is still weekend. I will enjoy my BBQ today!!!

Avocado Hamburger

Since it is 4th of July weekend, everyone around my house are having BBQ. We are planning to have BBQ this sunday with some of friends so we went to buy some ingredients during the day for Sunday. (I also bought a bicycle for myself!)

We thought about going out for dinner but then decided to have BBQ at home tonight since it was such a nice day. The other day, I saw a picture of "Avocado Hamburger" and since then, I could not get my mind out of this image of Avocado Hamburger. So I decided to make Avocado Hamburger.

First, I had Blue Cheese and White Wine. I like Blue cheese. (Some blue cheese I don't like but most of them I like). I wanted to have red wine but I didn't have it at home so I had white. Normally, I like blue cheese which is very sharp and strong!

Look at this height. It was very difficult to eat because I put lots of stuff in it. But it was really good! I love avocado also. I wanted bake homemade bread for this hamburger but I did not have time and energy today so I used store bought bums but this was pretty good. I bought them at Trader Joe's.

I think it is great that we can have BBQ at home. It is easy and delicious. I love eating outside.

Last but not least, I talked about "Taralle" yesterday but did not have picture to show you guys how it looks. So I took a picture of it. Here is it. It is a bite size Taralle. It's really good. I can not stop eating this!

After dinner, we went to see fireworks. It was beautiful and nice night.
Hope everyone if having great 4th of July weekend!
