<br />
Recently, I read a book called Blue Zone Solution. This book is about going to many places in the world where many people live over 100. Then, they look at the similarities and try to implement the concept to some cities in the United States. What I like about it is that they know it is very difficult to leave it to individual choices especially in the United States where our life style is very different from those Blue Zones. In order to make it a successful project and outcome, they try to change the whole community so it is easier for individuals to make right and healthy choices.<br />
<br />
Anyways, they have Okinawa (an island in Japan) as one of Blue Zone and it made me happy to see my country as one of healthy area but I think it is also completely different story when you look at Tokyo. The lifestyle has changed so much and people are busier and it is sometimes difficult to make right choices.<br />
<br />
If you are interested in this book, here is the link for Amazon.<br />

<br />
<br />
This book have many recipes from those Blue Zones and I tried a few of them. One of them which I tried was Longevity Stew from an island called Ikaria in Greece.<br />
<br />
Here is the recipe from Blue Zone website. <a href="https://www.bluezones.com/recipe/ikarian-longevity-stew-with-black-eyed-peas-recipe/" target="_blank">Click here for the recipe. </a><br />
<br />
This soup has many vegetables and it is easy to make. It has black-eyed peas and it is yummy and satisfying.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeIyfvVqhyLkMmPbrGDxLVZeMSGIcvyUyYGSu1lH8iFa3PzFEaHebnkLHGFP2p3pNy8hiUpNrfuo89SULuhn6KcspMEQbed-XKAT7FaBburHx8SEoqq1iujIEXywwoFlfzzgRVvO43YRo/s1600/Ikarian+Longevity+Stew+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeIyfvVqhyLkMmPbrGDxLVZeMSGIcvyUyYGSu1lH8iFa3PzFEaHebnkLHGFP2p3pNy8hiUpNrfuo89SULuhn6KcspMEQbed-XKAT7FaBburHx8SEoqq1iujIEXywwoFlfzzgRVvO43YRo/s640/Ikarian+Longevity+Stew+1.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The book said you can freeze this so I made a big batch and froze half of it. It will be a great lunch or dinner when I don't have time to cook.<br />
<br />
When you look at those people who live long life in those area, some of the similarity they have is they eat lots of vegetables, they move a lot, they have a close community and friends they can rely on and they have some type of religious believes.<br />
<br />
My husband's grandmother is like 95 years old and she is very fit and strong. When I think of her, many things are similar to what the book said. She has a garden and she works on her garden everyday. She is constantly moving. She is eating a lot of vegetables from her own garden. Everyone in her village know her and she is always going to different parties and gatherings.<br />
<br />
Eating healthy is not easy sometimes but I want to incorporate more vegetables into my cooking. I will still eat meat and fish but I will also have vegetable days few days a week or I will use some meat or fish but make a meal which include more vegetables in it than the meat and fish.<br />
<br />
This soup is a great soup. I will be making this soup again. I used to hate beans and peas but lately I am forcing myself to eat more beans and I am starting to like it more and more. I am excited to find more beans and peas recipes in the future!<br />

<br />
So NY is finally getting warm. Actually somedays are like summer already. I love summer so I am happy that it is warm but I have one complaint this spring.<br />
<br />
It is the pollen! It seems like the pollen has been going crazy this year. I normally don't have it this bad but my eyes have been so itchy this year. I heard because it was a long winter and now everything is blossoming at the same time. Hopefully, it will go away quickly so I can enjoy this beautiful weather!<br />

<br />
For a cake, I decided to make banana pudding this year instead of Strawberry Cake. This Past three years, I made strawberry short cake for his birthday but I know I am not a great baker and it is quite difficult to make a big square cake which is moist and taste good. I remember it was quite hard and dry last year and I didn't want to take a risk this year so I decided to make something which I know it always come out great and always a great hit with everyone.<br />
<br />
Banana Pudding (Magnolia Bakery Recipe)<br />

<br />
The birthday party was a success and I am very thankful that my son is a healthy 4 years old. I started this blog more than 4 years ago before I get pregnant with my son. Even though the update of this blog slowed down significantly, this blog helped me a lot and I would love to continue posting whenever I can.<br />
<br />
Thank you for your support and I really appreciate my life every single day.<br />

This tomato soup is from a special edition of America's Test Kitchen Magazine called "All time favorite recipes". I love this tomato soup and I made it a few times already. One time, I made it for a friend who just had a baby and she and her family loved it.<br />
<br />
This tomato soup use canned tomato and does not have any cream but it is creamy and great.<br />
<br />
In America, I think it is common to have tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich, however my son doesn't like cheese so we didn't make grilled cheese with it. But I am sure the grilled cheese will taste great with this tomato soup.<br />
<br />
It is great with crouton and the recipe called for homemade crouton but I was too lazy to make it homemade so I just used store bought crouton.<br />
<br />
My son love it. I am sure we are making this soup again and again especially during the winter season.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
I love America's test kitchen or Cook's illustrated magazined because they try lots of different methods and come up with the ultimate one. They explain all the details and troubles they went through in the process and it is very interesting and educational, I think.<br />
<br />
This book is a collection of their favorite recipes and it is a great one to own. I love it. I haven't made all of them yet but I sure would love to try all the recipes in there.<br />
<br />

<br />
Well, another thing I made is "Onigirazu". This is a new version of rice ball and it seems like it is very popular in Japan at the moment. Regular rice ball is triangle or round but this one is square and you just place seaweed, then add some rice, then add some ingredients you like and add more rice on top and then wrap them with seaweed like a present. Here is how it looks.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXhVQotAKt0AjIqB9B2tux5x8ads__6NCDfWXWv5aZMfLvDOGlo1unGWSfz8vWix_wNBMFW-h_FrkhaIjmEKyJDUdxGG3zl9zjIfZHAllaeuCR5CLa55CaLwKUprPnY1-1Oz13RCaGFAs/s1600/onigirazu.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXhVQotAKt0AjIqB9B2tux5x8ads__6NCDfWXWv5aZMfLvDOGlo1unGWSfz8vWix_wNBMFW-h_FrkhaIjmEKyJDUdxGG3zl9zjIfZHAllaeuCR5CLa55CaLwKUprPnY1-1Oz13RCaGFAs/s1600/onigirazu.JPG" height="358" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I think the reason why it got popular is because you can add more stuff in it and it is easier to eat than regular rice ball.<br />
<br />
This was had Spam and lettuce in it. Spam Onigiri is very popular in Hawaii. Hawaii's spam onigiri looked like nigiri sushi. They put Spam on top and wrapped it with thin slice of seaweed.<br />
<br />
Well, the spam was too salty but I like this shape of onigiri. I think you can come up with many different like of stuffing inside.<br />
<br />
I also made some sushi roll since we had avocado and imitation crab. I don't know why but it was so difficult to roll these sushi. I guess I am out of practice. I got so frustrated rolling those sushi. I almost gave up but my husband calmed me down and I finished about 6 rolls. 3 of them came out OK but the other 3 were disaster. Oh well.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
I also made macaroni salad from the same book which I introduced earlier.<br />
This came out great. I Actually added more vegetables than the recipe called for.<br />

I think this is great for potluck party or BBQ or something like that. It was really good but the portion I made was huge. We had to eat macaroni salad everyday.... Well, I am glad my husband loved it so he didn't mind eating them everyday :-)<br />

When someone has a cold or when we feel like we are not eating enough vegetable, I make this vegetable soup which my mother-in-law taught me how to make. It is easy and quick but very tasty and nutritious.<br />
<br />
Normally, my mother-in-law add vegetable bouillon and so do I but this time I just used my homemade chicken stock with salt without bouillon. It was still tasty and great.<br />
<br />
<b><span style="color: #666666; font-size: large;">Vegetable Soup 3~4 serving </span></b><br />
<b><span style="color: #666666; font-size: large;"><br /></span></b>
Green Onion 1bunch<br />
Carrot 3<br />
Celery 4<br />
Zucchini 1<br />
Raddish 7<br />
Ginger size of a thumb<br />
Chicken Stock 8~10 cups<br />
Salt and Pepper for taste<br />
Vegetable Oil 1 tablespoon<br />
<br />
1, First, cut all the vegetables into small pieces.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
4, Add chicken Stock and simmer until vegetables are tender.<br />
<br />
<br />
5, When vegetables are soft, add zucchini and simmer for a little bit. (I add zucchini at the end so the color stays green. A trick which I learned from my mother-in-law)<br />

<br />
<br />
This is a great soup for my son since sometimes he is picky with vegetables. When I made his soup, he always always eat all the vegetables without any complaint. I love making this soup for him. Sometimes, I add small pasta or barley or rice to this soup when I want to make it more hearty.<br />

<br />
It has been a while since the last post. In October, my family came to visit us in NY. It was very short and I felt really really sad when they left. I couldn't stop crying at the airpot but luckily my son kept me busy and thing get back to normal quickly.<br />
<br />
Sometimes I wonder how my life would have been if I stayed in Japan. It was my decision to come to the U.S. and stay here and I am very happy with my choice however I would love to have families around somewhere close by. Then, I also think about those people who live in Japan but do not see their family often. When I think about it, I spend weeks with them when I go back and I think maybe we don't spend that much time together at once if we live in Japan. So maybe overall the amount of time we spend together are same or more then average. I just wish I could see them more often :-)<br />
<br />
<br />
While they were here, I didn't cook much but my mom made Japanese breakfast for us everyday so I definitely enjoyed having someone cook Japanese breakfast for me everyday :-)<br />
<br />
There was a Halloween Party with my son's friends while they were here so I took them to the party. They enjoyed little kids dressing up and enjoying the party.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjme1IhXwmrGC-2emmojpyE6j_DU9nH-T39eUZRW1c6sD7zFIz159fBU28fzuoJw7EA86d1oWdIeDRm8syt-COmlvTUNEHxklLHROr4CEFfpSwpHKMdWDEfFxU2NedNq0XZYRkz5JD9Xto/s1600/Halloween+Party+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjme1IhXwmrGC-2emmojpyE6j_DU9nH-T39eUZRW1c6sD7zFIz159fBU28fzuoJw7EA86d1oWdIeDRm8syt-COmlvTUNEHxklLHROr4CEFfpSwpHKMdWDEfFxU2NedNq0XZYRkz5JD9Xto/s1600/Halloween+Party+2.jpg" height="640" width="358" /></a></div>
<br />
Everybody brought some food and enjoyed the day together. I am so thankful to have such wonderful friends to share those moments with! My son is growing up so fast! I am trying to enjoy every events, every moments and every conversation with him.<br />
<br />
While my family is here, I tried to make Red Snapper Rice (Taimeshi) with my mom. She never made this so this was first time for both of us. We got a nice big red snapper from Korean supermarket.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYQi4YGV15PmegIaM4yoFdPMJvjmOMaff_KZFlLZi0L7PyrWQh-9MHSINZg-bfbKYcjTYRhOhBpaZhogMx9Q4QyVprJ6rDEqciw-2pRerGZih0ley7js2NdSdfxlQHn91ivbyPoo93E0M/s1600/Taimeshi.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYQi4YGV15PmegIaM4yoFdPMJvjmOMaff_KZFlLZi0L7PyrWQh-9MHSINZg-bfbKYcjTYRhOhBpaZhogMx9Q4QyVprJ6rDEqciw-2pRerGZih0ley7js2NdSdfxlQHn91ivbyPoo93E0M/s1600/Taimeshi.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I think it came out pretty good but since I never had this before I was not sure how it is supposed to taste. For me, it was lacking some flavor but I guess it shouldn't have strong flavor. My aunt and uncle told me that this is how it supposed to taste so I guess we did it right. Since I LOVE ginger. I added extra ginger.<br />
<br />
And this is a cake we ate together. It was from Whole Food. My son was so happy to see this cake but at the same time he was scared of it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwjBlebml2pjFURN33k0giQv3Ne4M5lolYU-Tn_q5GUO9j_c9JODNRzKCjYm-WJw86s1LyUEFx4PXQorWBjGAWEjXG2NvxVTWV6cvYeFJZFJAZaONlWjiQ_S-85RuSUZiNRSo62E4m7ts/s1600/Halloween+Cake+from+Wholefood.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwjBlebml2pjFURN33k0giQv3Ne4M5lolYU-Tn_q5GUO9j_c9JODNRzKCjYm-WJw86s1LyUEFx4PXQorWBjGAWEjXG2NvxVTWV6cvYeFJZFJAZaONlWjiQ_S-85RuSUZiNRSo62E4m7ts/s1600/Halloween+Cake+from+Wholefood.jpg" height="640" width="358" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
It went by so fast but I really really enjoyed the stay of my family. My son was so happy to have many people to play with. I guess this was how the family used to be. With many people in the family or more close with your neighbors and so on. Nowadays, it is rare to have such a big family but I think it might be a good environment for kids to grow up in :-)<br />
<br />
I would love to have my family here again. I just wish the flight was shorter. I am excited for their next visit already!<br />

I have been wanting to go to Mystic Connecticut for quite some time ever since I saw it on TV. I was finally able to visit the other day. It was not too far away from where we are but since we didn't want to rush and fully enjoy the area, we decided to stay one night.<br />
<br />
The first day was a beautiful day and we left home early to get there before everybody.<br />
<br />
First, we got breakfast bagel near our place before we get on the freeway and start our trip. We do this sometimes when we go for a road trip and eat it in the car while we drive.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirWDJmuaOG8ajgCTUEt1dN8Szn3eBkIxlKBUToFalZ1WvkuL5MfM_3D79J4GxFmETejJCnhyphenhyphenjCNX1FMYzjdDZ5EHMbmvcQ3M2SXgBipQGVWT84F0AGCMEOS8cHiVZhINqpGf42yVBaZkw/s1600/20140830_083411_resized_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirWDJmuaOG8ajgCTUEt1dN8Szn3eBkIxlKBUToFalZ1WvkuL5MfM_3D79J4GxFmETejJCnhyphenhyphenjCNX1FMYzjdDZ5EHMbmvcQ3M2SXgBipQGVWT84F0AGCMEOS8cHiVZhINqpGf42yVBaZkw/s1600/20140830_083411_resized_1.jpg" height="640" width="358" /></a></div>
<br />
There are many bagel shops in NY and we have a few in our area also. It is great to be able to get fresh baked bagel anytime you want it. Since I am not a big breakfast person, I shared one breakfast bagel with my husband.<br />
<br />
Then, we arrived at Mystic Connecticut.<br />
<br />
There is a place called Seaport in Mystic. You have to pay to get in but there are a few old wooden ships and planetarium and so on. I think it is quite possible to spend a while day here in Seaport. Actually that is basically what we did. There are some activities and a house for kids also.<br />
<br />
My son liked the ship so he had lots of fun exploring the old ships.<br />
<br />
It was a beautiful day and the view from a small boat was beautiful like this.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9sER7WbCdIk6NN_G-GACYohVnfouIo7kibGYfzt0Uu33R3hezA7oRfriTAo8oomOu-KC9-Ckg3250BluAI1te980gOabjwjRxbYrt9yZNFYfqGLMTbD2oWtGCQShPsJ6rTK8FZHdZZ9o/s1600/20140830_111413_resized_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9sER7WbCdIk6NN_G-GACYohVnfouIo7kibGYfzt0Uu33R3hezA7oRfriTAo8oomOu-KC9-Ckg3250BluAI1te980gOabjwjRxbYrt9yZNFYfqGLMTbD2oWtGCQShPsJ6rTK8FZHdZZ9o/s1600/20140830_111413_resized_1.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
For lunch, we went outside of Seaport. We ate at a restaurant called "Harbor House" which is in a hotel on a little hill where you can see the ocean.<br />
<br />
I had clam chowder and a lobster roll. This is clam chowder I ordered.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9vgo2tQ7CPqqQYuZL-VrZgxhZvRFRo5hX9Mr-3VKAgsEiN7ocHszvnafA34m3mobJQhoIMuZ08aYmLvBmwyPVHWyNbsrkTpGfDHD1-GOZd5hAlv5YfyLhZsROozAm6zb35KMB9RY2DH8/s1600/20140830_124122_resized.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9vgo2tQ7CPqqQYuZL-VrZgxhZvRFRo5hX9Mr-3VKAgsEiN7ocHszvnafA34m3mobJQhoIMuZ08aYmLvBmwyPVHWyNbsrkTpGfDHD1-GOZd5hAlv5YfyLhZsROozAm6zb35KMB9RY2DH8/s1600/20140830_124122_resized.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Clam chowder was really good. I like those smooth chowders which are not too thick so it was perfect for my taste.<br />
<br />
I forgot to take a picture of lobster roll. It was OK. I mean I think it is because I don't love lobster. I know I don't love lobster but sometimes I had to order to reconfirm that. Every time I eat lobster, I kind of regret it because I knew that I don't love it but I order it anyway. Oh well, I hope I will learn someday.<br />
<br />
For dinner, we went to a small Mexican restaurant close to where our hotel was (which was not in Mystic). One of the reason we went there was because when I check their menu online, I found Horchata. My husband and I LOVE Horchata and every chance we get to drink Horchata, we take it.<br />
<br />
Horchata is a typical Mexican drink (I think it is typical...) made from rice and sugar and cinnamon. When I was living in California, it was quite easy to get this drink since there were many Mexican restaurant around but after we moved to NY, Horchata had become something which is not easy to come by so we get super excited whenever we find it.<br />
<br />
We loved Horchata so much, we actually tried to make it at home once. It tasted good but was quite a process.<br />
<br />
Anyways, this restaurant was very casual, reasonable and good! It was a small place but very popular and people were just coming in non stop. We ordered lots of different thing but the best was of course tacos.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />

<br />
<br />
There was a swimming pool at the hotel we stayed in so my son really really enjoyed swimming. He just started to swim on his own with a little floating thing on his arms when we stayed in Germany with my in-laws. We would like him to keep swimming and be comfortable in water so we will try to take him to a swimming pool even in winter.<br />
<br />
Next day, we swimming in the swimming pool again and checked out the hotel then head to a town called Essex to ride a steam engine train. But first, we went to a restaurant to have lunch.<br />
<br />
We went to a restaurant which we found online and I had fish and chips there.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4QGboGYF0YH4keD15zCO8oY9k7p1RqjAIz3KunKpYeNWVdhDE2Z8LzlfdpYYUY9Xulc1j8Uhv16a-m2DkM21hwjhE9lCHfQC63qrxsaHXCx83tmaYtCNeMIBk1ZdGOhDQQUTXaNPbT44/s1600/20140831_120857_resized+(1).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4QGboGYF0YH4keD15zCO8oY9k7p1RqjAIz3KunKpYeNWVdhDE2Z8LzlfdpYYUY9Xulc1j8Uhv16a-m2DkM21hwjhE9lCHfQC63qrxsaHXCx83tmaYtCNeMIBk1ZdGOhDQQUTXaNPbT44/s1600/20140831_120857_resized+(1).jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Sorry for this kind of smoky, blur photo... I don't know what happened here.<br />
<br />
I LOVE fish and chips. Every time I see fish and chips in the menu, I feel like I have to order it (especially when I haven't have fish and chips from that particular restaurant before).<br />
<br />
This fish and chips was really good. And French Fries. is probably my favorite food in the world and I especially love truffle french fries. They had truffle french fries on the appetizer menu so I asked them if they can make my fish and chips with their truffle french fried. They were happy to do that for me and I was extremely happy.<br />
<br />
I just love truffle fries. It was super good. The fish was good also but the truffle fries were the highlight of the meal for me.<br />
<br />
After the lunch, we went to ride a steam train. My son loved it and it was quite nice ride.<br />
<br />
On the way home, we kind of got stuck on traffic but it was a wonderful weekend trip. I highly recommend Mystic CT for weekend trip if you are living in NYC area.<br />

It started to feel like fall in NY this past few days. It is kind of sad since I LOVE summer but at the same time, it is exciting to think about all the bakings and warm food which we will be enjoying in fall.<br />
<br />
We actually baked cookie yesterday since it was cool and rainy day. I love baking when the weather is bad. My husband and my son helped me to bake and they really really enjoyed being a sous chef.<br />
And the chocolate chip cookie we made was pretty good.<br />
<br />
Anyways, I would like to talk about the really yummy pork dish which I made a few weeks ago. I think this is a typical Japanese flavor. Soy sauce, Sake and Mirin. It goes really well with white rice and I always have to be very careful not to eat too much rice.<br />
<br />
I am sure many Japanese people love this kind of dish but since my husband and my son loved it also, I think this might be a universal dish which can be enjoyed by people from all over the world.<br />
<br />
I made this kind of dish before but this was the first time I used cilantro and tomato as garnish with it. This was absolutely great idea since we LOVE cilantro, eating this pork with cilantro made it taste even better and fresher. This is optional but if you like cilantro, I highly recommend eating it with cilantro. Well, in my opinion, just about anything taste better with cilantro ;-)<br />
<br />
The only way to find out is to try making this dish and eat it yourself! Here is the recipe.<br />
<br />

4, After the pork turned its color, add soy sauce and mirin and saute more<br />
<br />

<br />
This is an easy quick meal that satisfy everybody's appetite! Enjoy!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Yes, it is yet another salad. This one has warm mushroom on top. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You can use any kind of mushroom but I had Maitake mushroom in the fridge so I used it for this salad. You can also mix different kind of mushrooms. I love mushroom and every time I go to Japanese or Korean supermarket, I buy all different kind of mushrooms. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1, Cut Mushrooms into bite size pieces. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2, Add 1 tea spoon of butter and 1 table spoon of olive oil into a pan and heat up. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Yes, it is salad again! This is very pretty and easy Caprese salad (Tomato and Mozzarella salad). I Love Caprese salad and my husband loves it even more. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You can use any kind of tomato and mozzarella but in here I used mini tomato and these small mozzarella called "Bocconcini". These are about same size so it looks beautiful and easy to each together. I julienned basil and sprinkle over. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For dressing, I simply used white balsamic vinegar and olive oil. (I know, it seems like I only use those two as salad dressing lately..) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is quick and easy beautiful salad you can eat as a main with bread or as a side of your main dish. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Those small mozzarella balls are addictive. I couldn't stop popping into my mouth while I was making this dish. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It am eating salad everyday for lunch. Even though I went out with my friends in Manhattan last night at Greek restaurant called AVERA and had greek salad, since I had ingredients for greek salad I made it for lunch and enjoyed it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Olive was little too salty for me. I should wash it out next time before I use it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Anyways, this is super simple salad but tasty and perfect for summer. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The greek salad I had last night also had red onion in it. Since I didn't have red onion, I skipped it today but it is a great idea to add red onion stripes. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The restaurant we went last night was very busy. I didn't know about this restaurant by my friend book it and it was delicious greek food. We had some appetizers such as grilled octopus, grilled Sardine, Greek Salad, Zucchini Chips. All were really good but my fav was grilled octopus. It was so tender and yummy!!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For main course, we shared branzino. It was really fresh and wonderful. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We had so much fun together last night. I laughed so much that my cheeks were hurting afterwords. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It is great to have friends like this whom I can laugh with. I am very thankful to have them in my life. We realized that we don't do this often enough. We decided to get together at least quarterly from now on. I am looking forward to our next quarterly meeting! </div>

<br />
I just came back from a farmer's market and got some fresh vegetables so I had to make a salad for lunch. Today, I got those corn, mini tomatoes, egg plants, potatoes and basil.<br />
<br />
The tomatoes were just amazingly sweet and I couldn't stop eating them.<br />
<br />
Simple Summer Salad with corn and mini tomatoes<br />
<br />
Serving 1<br />
<br />
Salad leaves a handful<br />
cucumber 1/4 cup (cut into small pieces)<br />
Corn 1/4 cup (boiled)<br />
mini tomatoes about 8<br />
Crumbled Feta Cheese 1/4 cup<br />
Olive Oil 2 table spoon<br />
White Balsamic Vinegar 1 Table Soon<br />
<br />
1, Toss salad leaved and cucumber with vinegar and olive oil<br />
<br />
2, Add Feta Cheese, tomatoes and Corn on top<br />
<br />
I love eating Salad in summer especially when you find fresh ingredients. This is super easy salad which you probably don't need recipe for and you can add any kind of vegetables of your liking.<br />
<br />
<br />
By the way, we were in Germany to see our in-laws. We had a great time there and since my in-laws were watching and playing with my son all the time, I was able to do some reading for myself. Here are the books which I read during the trip.<br />
<br />
This one is a mystery which is quite dark as the title indicate.<br />
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0307341577/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0307341577&linkCode=as2&tag=mauskit-20&linkId=P6SZV5VXLIE63EHJ<br />
<br />
Since I like her other book "Gone Girl", I might have expected too much. It was OK but not as good as "Gone Girl" in my opinion.<br />
<br />
<iframe frameborder="0" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" scrolling="no" src="//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?ServiceVersion=20070822&OneJS=1&Operation=GetAdHtml&MarketPlace=US&source=ac&ref=qf_sp_asin_til&ad_type=product_link&tracking_id=mauskit-20&marketplace=amazon&region=US&placement=0307588378&asins=0307588378&linkId=Z2C7H74HSWTXGN2G&show_border=true&link_opens_in_new_window=true" style="height: 240px; width: 120px;"></p>
<p>
</iframe><br />
<br />
This another book is called "The Glass Castle". It is about authors childhood and it is quite a childhood this author had. It was very interesting and I liked it.<br />
<iframe frameborder="0" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" scrolling="no" src="//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?ServiceVersion=20070822&OneJS=1&Operation=GetAdHtml&MarketPlace=US&source=ac&ref=tf_til&ad_type=product_link&tracking_id=mauskit-20&marketplace=amazon&region=US&placement=074324754X&asins=074324754X&linkId=E62VSNZ4Y2SIZSWV&show_border=true&link_opens_in_new_window=true" style="height: 240px; width: 120px;"></p>
<p>
</iframe><br />
<br />
<br />
Since I finished two books which I brought with me, I went to the library in Germany and borrowed this English book.<br />
<iframe frameborder="0" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" scrolling="no" src="//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?ServiceVersion=20070822&OneJS=1&Operation=GetAdHtml&MarketPlace=US&source=ac&ref=tf_til&ad_type=product_link&tracking_id=mauskit-20&marketplace=amazon&region=US&placement=0061782092&asins=0061782092&linkId=LFTTDCNJK7XF4QHT&show_border=true&link_opens_in_new_window=true" style="height: 240px; width: 120px;"></p>
<p>
</iframe><br />
<br />
After I borrowed this one, I realized that I actually read another book from this same author before.<br />
I did not really like this book. I think the concept was good and it makes you wonder what happens next throughout the book but it was actually a bit disappointing at the end for me.<br />
<br />
The other book I read before from this same author was this one.<br />
<iframe frameborder="0" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" scrolling="no" src="//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?ServiceVersion=20070822&OneJS=1&Operation=GetAdHtml&MarketPlace=US&source=ac&ref=tf_til&ad_type=product_link&tracking_id=mauskit-20&marketplace=amazon&region=US&placement=0062248634&asins=0062248634&linkId=WHV6QRPINOHZUDSH&show_border=true&link_opens_in_new_window=true" style="height: 240px; width: 120px;"></p>
<p>
</iframe><br />
<br />
Again, I think the concept was interesting but I didn't really like the story and how it end. Well, it seems like she is a popular and famous author so I guess it is just I don't like her style and many people find her book very interesting.<br />
<br />
This last one was the most entertaining book I read in this trip. Actually, I wasn't really interested in reading this one but I didn't have anything else to read so I borrowed this one from my father-in-law.<br />
<iframe frameborder="0" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" scrolling="no" src="//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?ServiceVersion=20070822&OneJS=1&Operation=GetAdHtml&MarketPlace=US&source=ac&ref=tf_til&ad_type=product_link&tracking_id=mauskit-20&marketplace=amazon&region=US&placement=0440245923&asins=0440245923&linkId=53EQFXUP2BI7XDPI&show_border=true&link_opens_in_new_window=true" style="height: 240px; width: 120px;"></p>
<p>
</iframe><br />
<br />
I know the author is super popular and many of his books were made into movies. I just didn't think I would like this kind books. I thought the vocabulary will be too difficult for me since it was about lawyers and tax and stuff. However, I was pleasantly surprised how easy and entertaining to read this book. Now I know why he is a popular author and I would love to read his other books also.<br />
<br />
I would definitely watch the movie also. I think Tom Cruz is a good choice for the main character. I am just very interested who else were casted for other roles. You know, when you read a book, you have a certain image in your head for all the characters and sometimes it is right on when you watch a movie but something it is so different from what you have in your head. Anyways, I am curious.<br />
<br />
Well, I am excited to cook some food with the vegetables I bought today at farmers market. Love Summer!<br />
<br />

<br />
My in-laws were visiting us from Germany and we have been quite busy. They spoiled us and played so nicely with our son everyday. During their stay, they watched our son to let us go for a date nights and let me go have hair cut and a day in Manhattan.<br />
<br />
It was really nice to have a day in Manhattan all by myself. I went to book off and got some books for myself and for my son. Then, went to have lunch by myself at a restaurant which I wanted to try for sometime.<br />
<br />
The restaurant is called "Osteria Morini" and it is owned by a well-know chef named Michael White. He owns many restaurants here in NY. I actually didn't know about him until I went to this one event in the end of 2013. It was a dinner event which 7 famous chefs prepare each course. One of the chef was Michael Symon which is a iron chef and I took picture with him :-) But the best dish of the night was a dish from Michael White and I wanted to visit his restaurant since then.<br />
<br />
He has one restaurant near central park but this one is quite fancy and I found out that he has this another restaurant in Soho which is more casual and affordable.<br />
<br />
Since my hair dresser was close to soho, I thought this is the perfect opportunity to try his restaurant.<br />
<br />
He is famous for his pasta dishes so I ordered pasta. It was truffle ricotta ravioli with butter sauce. It was sooooooo good!!! It taste rich but light at the same time. The portion was quite small but I was not super hungry so it was just perfect. I am sure my husband would love this dish so maybe I would like to visit this restaurant with my husband sometimes again. Next time, I will try something else even though this one was really good.<br />
<br />
There are many dishes I wanted to try. I might have to go more than once ;-)<br />
<br />
Anyways, it was wonderful and as much as I LOVE my son so much, it is also nice to have a day off for myself. I really appreciate my in-laws gave me this opportunity. They even let me sleep in. This is like unheard of in Japan. I mean, I think Japanese daughter-in-law will never sleep in even when your parents in-laws tell you that it is OK. They just don't. But I know that they mean it and I took the opportunity and it was great. I know I am a very lucky daughter in-law.<br />
<br />
Now, I have my rest and have my energy back so I can cook more! I got this vegetable cook book from the library the other day and excited to try some stuff from this book. My in-laws have very healthy life style and they eat lots of fruit and vegetables. I inspired me to eat more fruit and vegetables so this book will help me to cook with more vegetables.<br />

<br />
Croquette is a very popular dish in Japan and I think you can find them in many different countries in the world. I love them but since it is quite time consuming to make it and fry it, I don't make it too often. In Japan, you can find already fried croquette in a supermarket or you can also find frozen one so you can just fry them at home.<br />
<br />
Since I had 1lb of ground beef and lots of potatoes at home, I decided to make this dish the other day.<br />
<br />
I made a lot of them and froze half of them. Next time I want to eat croquette, I can just take them out from the freezer and fry them.<br />
<br />
Normally in Japan, we eat this with Tonkatsu sauce which is something like a ticker Worcestershire sauce. I always have this on hand but if you don't have it, you can either use regular worcestershire sauce, ketchup, hot sauce or even without any sauce. If you season them well during cooking, you don't really need any sauce.<br />
<br />
If you want to but it, you can buy them from Amazon. This is a very popular brand of tonkatsu sauce in Japan. Bull dog Tonkatsu Sauce.<br />

Kids love this potato croquette. I would recommend making a bunch of them and keep some of them in the freezer for later.<br />

<br />
I love Kimchi Fried Rice. It is so easy to make and it always taste good. The bad part about it is I eat too much when I make this fried rice.<br />
<br />
I like having Kimchi in my fridge all the time so when I don't have anything and if I don't want to go to the grocery store, I can take out bacon from the freezer and cook rice and make this fried rice.<br />
<br />
This time, I added some left over vegetables which I had in the fridge but this is totally optional and you can add any kind of vegetables you have in hand (or you don't have to add any vegetables if you prefer)<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
Super easy and yummy Kimchi Fried rice!<br />
<br />
I think depends on what kimchi you use and how much rice you add but this particular one I made was not too spicy (I think it was because I added lots of vegetables and rice) so my son was able to eat it also. He said it is spicy but he kept eating :-)<br />
<br />
I love making fried rice so I can clean out my fridge. It is super easy. The only tedious part is to chop all the vegetables into small pieces but after that it is so fast!<br />
<br />
If you like Kimchi, you definitely will like Kimchi Fried Rice! Please give it a try.<br />

I like one of Food Network Star "Mellisa d'Arabian". Her show Ten Dollars dinner is full of great tips and yummy recipes.<br />
<br />
I made one of her recipe the other day with white fish and it was absolutely amazing and easy. (<a href="http://www.7thkitchen.com/2013/10/melissa-darabians-snapper-with-fennel.html" target="_blank">Click here for that post</a>) So I decided to borrow her book from the library.<br />
<br />
As I have predicted, the cook book is full of great looking recipes and useful tips. This is the book I borrowed if you are interested in.<br />
<br />
<iframe frameborder="0" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" scrolling="no" src="http://rcm-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/cm?t=mauskit-20&o=1&p=8&l=as1&asins=0307985148&ref=tf_til&fc1=000000&IS2=1&lt1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifr" style="height: 240px; width: 120px;"></iframe><br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Another thing I liked about this book is that there are many pictures. I need lots of pictures in my cook books!!! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So, I made two dishes from this book. One is "Salad Nicoise" and the other one is "Tomato Tart". </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Salad Nicoise is a salad with lots of things in it. Kind of similar to Cobb Salad but munis the bacon and avocado and add tuna and olive instead. I believe most important feature of Salad Nicoise is tuna. (Well, I am not sure if this is right or wrong but at least tuna is the first thing which comes to my mind when I think about Salad Nicoise. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So here it is, Salad Nicoise with tuna, potato, olive, green beans, tomato and romain lettuce. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilMhNO6GzoS8ZUPnilsDcUsEyYvv5w1zsj7L8km4ThygI9p6TKt4UMmbCWsCs-FaVdux2GBx3TqUuwYov3Hb6cl2xSzIm8QgeBzOyMltgDTwufF_fhb4-FvkQ7FMou_Rj8OybLRtIgiB0/s1600/Salade+Nicoise+with+Lemon+Thyme+Vinaigrette+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilMhNO6GzoS8ZUPnilsDcUsEyYvv5w1zsj7L8km4ThygI9p6TKt4UMmbCWsCs-FaVdux2GBx3TqUuwYov3Hb6cl2xSzIm8QgeBzOyMltgDTwufF_fhb4-FvkQ7FMou_Rj8OybLRtIgiB0/s640/Salade+Nicoise+with+Lemon+Thyme+Vinaigrette+1.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I loved this salad. First of all, it looks beautiful and second of all it tasted really good! It is a very satisfying salad which can be a meal on its own. I think it will be great for a party or get together since it looks so beautiful and also easy to make and inexpensive to make.<br />
<br />
I loved the taste also. My husband liked it but he said he can do it without tuna. I was like "But the whole point of this salad is tuna..." Well, I don't mind since I got to eat all the tuna :-)<br />
<br />
If you are interested in this salad recipe, <a href="http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/melissa-darabian/salade-nicoise-recipe/index.html" target="_blank">click here to go to Food Network site.</a><br />
<br />
<br />
I also made another easy dish since I knew someone in my family will not be super happy with salad only dinner. (My two year old son... :-)<br />
<br />
The other dish was "Tomato Tart" and this one was super easy also. I used pre-made frozen pie crust so all I had to do is slice tomatoes, dry them little bit and arrange them in the tart pan on top of the pie crust, sprinkle herbs, spices and oil then bake.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

My son liked the tart, well mostly the pie crust part ;-)<br />

<br />
I really really like this book of Melissa d'Arabian. I will try many more recipes before I return this book. I might even consider buying this book.<br />
<br />
This book is great for people who would like to save money on grocery but still want to eat delicious food without spending too much time in the kitchen. These recipes are perfect for me. This year, I want to try save more money on grocery with smart choice and more planning. However, I will not give up on taste or variety or healthy options. So, please look forward to more exciting dishes which I am going to try and share with you! I just need to plan better and say no to impulse purchase :-)<br />

<br />
We went to visit our friends in Manhattan on Christmas Eve and spent a night there. They said they are going to ake Turkey for the night so I wanted to bring some dessert.<br />
<br />
In Japan, it is pretty popular to have a Strawberry cake like this one above for Birthday or Christmas and I love these simple cake with strawberry and whipped cream so I decided to bake it and bring it with us.<br />
<br />
Well, the sponge cake didn't come out right. It was so flat and hard. I didn't know what to do.<br />
<br />
I didn't have any energy and time to bake another one so I decided to bake another one. This time Black Forest Cake since I made this about a month ago with my friend from Germany. I baked it...... BUT this came out also flat and hard.<br />
<br />
I brushed some apricot syrup to the sponge cake which I made first and decorated with whipped cream and strawberry. I looked beautiful. But I decided not to bring the cake to our friends because I know it will going to be hard inside and not very good.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggp1ThZV0mew9VXDttUpwp4xxdxbVXODM_BNG2GGC-hohYn7owRMFiyIzczLy15ojNtAd0b1YsRhZq-Q_Bom18vJFZ-P_ABhaV4OK1CHUzpvgJTIHv-IKUt41oH8-p_0jHxg0DOYu3Kek/s1600/Christmas+Cake+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggp1ThZV0mew9VXDttUpwp4xxdxbVXODM_BNG2GGC-hohYn7owRMFiyIzczLy15ojNtAd0b1YsRhZq-Q_Bom18vJFZ-P_ABhaV4OK1CHUzpvgJTIHv-IKUt41oH8-p_0jHxg0DOYu3Kek/s1600/Christmas+Cake+2.jpg" height="640" width="356" /></a></div>
<br />
Well, the Christmas with our friends were wonderful. We had such a wonderful time. Our son was so happy to be with everybody and his favorite is their puppy. He loves their puppy and he was playing with her the whole time we were there. He even woke up in the middle of the night and cried because he wanted to play with the puppy :-)<br />
<br />
On Christmas day, we came back home and tried this cake which I left in the fridge. To my surprise, it tasted really good and the cake was moist and soft. I think leaving it with syrup and cream made the cake moist and soft. I regretted not bring it with me. Oh well. My husband enjoyed it so at least it didn't go waste.<br />
<br />
It seems like when I try to make round cake like this, it often ended up flat. I was thinking maybe I will just use my mom's pound cake recipe to make these round cake.<br />
<br />
I think my decoration skill is improved since I bought this turntable and decoration kit for cake decoration. It is all about practice and I hope I will be able to practice more this year. That means we will be eating more cake this year. Oh I miss my neighbors which I can give my cakes to every time I baked. I need to find a new neighbor whom I can share my baked products with. Otherwise, we will be gaining lots of weight this year...<br />
<br />
By the way, NY is -15C (5F) today plus is is so windy. I head that it is dangerously cold to stay outside. I never had such a cold weather in my life! I went outside to fix something on the balcony and I couldn't stay even for 1 mins. My hands got so cold immediately and I couldn't stand it. It is nice and sunny but it is too cold and windy. I hope this weather will go away soon. I need warm weather!!!<br />
<br />
<br />

Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone had a great New Year's Eve and had a great start into 2014. We sure did!<br />
<br />
We invited some friends over to our place and had a Japanese New Year's Eve. It is very traditional to eat soba noodle for New Year's Eve so I made soba noodle. Also, I made some Sushi.<br />
<br />
I was not sure if my friends like sushi and soba but they loved sushi and soba! I was so relieved. I made banana pudding for dessert. Everything went well and our son loved having guest at home.<br />
<br />
He even stay up till midnight to celebrate new year.<br />
<br />
It was a great start to a new year and it was a wonderful fun night. I am so blessed to have such wonderful friends to spend New Year's Eve with.<br />
<br />
Every time someone stand up to go somewhere, our son was worried that they are going home so he kept saying "I don't want to say bye bye".<br />
<br />
Anyways, we had a wonderful time and we wish 2014 will bring lots of happiness!<br />

<br />
In many of the supermarket I go to here in the U.S., I see this sausage from a company called Aidells. I tried this sausage for the first time when I was still living in California. I loved their Chicken and Apple sausage so I buy this sausage sometimes and chop it and add to Pasta for an easy quick meal.<br />
<br />
Well, the other day I was buying this sausage again. As I was paying at the check out, the lady at the cashier told me that she loves this sausage and tried a recipe from their website which was awesome. She told me the recipe and insist that I should try it.<br />
<br />
So, I went home and check their website and found the recipe she was talking about. It was easy recipe and had all the ingredients so I decided to give it a try. <a href="http://www.aidells.com/recipe/275" target="_blank">Here is the recipe from Aidells website if you are interested in. </a><br />
<br />
Saute sausage and take it out.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh59_Lq5jHY5aqCiegAitiih7-X5GN6sELYTlVHr4f0oaGAm7FCMObgoIvMi5V-mDmxIlER3RxqrhGnaVZo1g_g1DRit_Bhm2mLy_hpUhKp20vroeM3KNQCG4bRbKZBol_hbHoXHG2sXEk/s1600/Chicken+and+Apple+Sausage+with+apple+and+onion+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh59_Lq5jHY5aqCiegAitiih7-X5GN6sELYTlVHr4f0oaGAm7FCMObgoIvMi5V-mDmxIlER3RxqrhGnaVZo1g_g1DRit_Bhm2mLy_hpUhKp20vroeM3KNQCG4bRbKZBol_hbHoXHG2sXEk/s640/Chicken+and+Apple+Sausage+with+apple+and+onion+2.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuzNBD4IkSnDAZjC9OfJgH5ZZbYLhczVFMlp0vqgNB_N3ZScLq49gLmse-BeOEdoReJvriZz-yTD4yUvRGGxsXGvFRySugRJfysztk5gFTqhUtZntJ55BgK8jGuKh9bQSjSRRV_14ISbE/s1600/Chicken+and+Apple+Sausage+with+apple+and+onion+5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuzNBD4IkSnDAZjC9OfJgH5ZZbYLhczVFMlp0vqgNB_N3ZScLq49gLmse-BeOEdoReJvriZz-yTD4yUvRGGxsXGvFRySugRJfysztk5gFTqhUtZntJ55BgK8jGuKh9bQSjSRRV_14ISbE/s640/Chicken+and+Apple+Sausage+with+apple+and+onion+5.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
My husband and kid loved it. (Even though, my son was only eating pasta...)<br />
<br />
It was super easy and tasty. I would use less apple next time but this is a great quick meal!<br />

<br />
How is everybody doing? Everyone must be busy with all the Christmas related parties and get together and preparations.<br />
<br />
I actually just came back from Japan. I decided to go there spontaneously and stayed there for three weeks. It was a wonderful trip and my family were super super happy to have us. Our son was very happy to have many people to play with every day. He made my family laughed a lot. It was wonderful to see my family laughing and feeling happy.<br />
<br />
I off course ate lots of good food while I was there. The weather in Tokyo was quite nice while I was there. Sunny everyday and the average temp was about 15C everyday which is about 60F.<br />
<br />
So now, I am back to NY and experiencing this COLD COLD weather. I really don't like cold weather. Oh well, I should be thankful that I don't have to stay outside all day in this cold weather.<br />
<br />
Today, I would like to write about the dish which I made before I went to Japan.<br />
<br />
I see lots of pumpkins and squash in fall and I love using those vegetables when it is in season.<br />
<br />
I saw a nice acorn squash so I made stuffed acorn squash. I actually made this dish before. I checked when I made it last time and found out that it was 2009. 4 Years ago!! Wow, time flies. If you are interested in the previous acorn post, <a href="http://www.7thkitchen.com/2009/09/baked-acorn-squash-with-ground-beef.html" target="_blank">click here</a>.<br />
<br />
I mentioned before also but I first ate stuffed pumpkin back when I was living in California. One night, I went to visit my friend who is French. He got hungry so he got some dinner leftover and ate it. I ate some and that was the first time I ever tried stuffed pumpkin. I thought "Wow, I never had this before. I guess this is some kind of French dish."<br />
<br />
I believe they actually used pumpkin but since I found good acorn squash at my local supermarket, I use it. And this time, I added some rice to it also.<br />
<br />
I didn't measure anything and I just winged it but this is how I made it.<br />
<br />
I cut the top of acorn and took the seeds out. Then, add some brown sugar, salt and pepper and baked in the oven till it is soft.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmH0RymSWoWbR1EpPb7q6WyEKbgJFLNjwmBSANsKpgzHMuigJE57M5tEu6KlBxHwORMPjlaGIWn3XJB3oZwl1AoSPf7KyskFpjTV0Qp7dwAozAvTCZnflXMXSNxYyLXNNs15ab5FouXL4/s1600/Stuffed+Squash+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmH0RymSWoWbR1EpPb7q6WyEKbgJFLNjwmBSANsKpgzHMuigJE57M5tEu6KlBxHwORMPjlaGIWn3XJB3oZwl1AoSPf7KyskFpjTV0Qp7dwAozAvTCZnflXMXSNxYyLXNNs15ab5FouXL4/s640/Stuffed+Squash+1.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
First, I sautéed carrot, onion and celery.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiks0WIrr8grOUyoGf7f6d7zl8gFijukWclRikWpYYY3Ss0V8RwblZ64bJ4H07211MHJzkzqOrI7xYCHmRmOUKn37MsovJu3l-N19JE3aBh7xSoJR8uRC_lI8lKvD_UYU0DGrrvcfWyLRI/s1600/Stuffed+Squash+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiks0WIrr8grOUyoGf7f6d7zl8gFijukWclRikWpYYY3Ss0V8RwblZ64bJ4H07211MHJzkzqOrI7xYCHmRmOUKn37MsovJu3l-N19JE3aBh7xSoJR8uRC_lI8lKvD_UYU0DGrrvcfWyLRI/s640/Stuffed+Squash+2.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Then, add ground beef with some spices. I used nutmeg, all spice, cinnamon, etc. When the meat is cooked, I added cooked rice.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgV9_759km90mkKL3mt7hVdMSF6j2BEorj5SAEgCAC4aXUMgSw05Wwuhn_cIaQHyFhe0-CzZbDMeWIyeDdQeyv8D6nD0duDXXL27cqB12VUAA6mGXyVhXsjiup7-np9GU2X5pw3KXjaLtU/s1600/Stuffed+squash+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgV9_759km90mkKL3mt7hVdMSF6j2BEorj5SAEgCAC4aXUMgSw05Wwuhn_cIaQHyFhe0-CzZbDMeWIyeDdQeyv8D6nD0duDXXL27cqB12VUAA6mGXyVhXsjiup7-np9GU2X5pw3KXjaLtU/s640/Stuffed+squash+3.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
When the acorn is soft, take out from the oven and stuff it with rice and meat mixture. Arrange extra mixture around it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFkkJltM5Qu9F4A22W1NUXFEdojSR1Yxff0B30Cz_YogFXJTh8NUBOpfuUFvzS02n4HjrCLQ-t5y7Kgwi8YPuTYe-nPMDsutGfYa16W-9bqTOwkflRYCC4gfKwcJPDTC4f6oVlWV8BmyQ/s1600/Stuffed+Squash+5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFkkJltM5Qu9F4A22W1NUXFEdojSR1Yxff0B30Cz_YogFXJTh8NUBOpfuUFvzS02n4HjrCLQ-t5y7Kgwi8YPuTYe-nPMDsutGfYa16W-9bqTOwkflRYCC4gfKwcJPDTC4f6oVlWV8BmyQ/s640/Stuffed+Squash+5.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Put the lid back on and serve.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmEGRnb64QFiz_6ZDFaWlL7DU4Z6tZ2VWZLTnE-0MQqwoica56U1Cmi5QpiGdatlA0nejsFKpIaMeqxK7mjspoJHDjsTg6NJHD7q2toZOedWSdE7G6JkBzJiqh1UdTHB3lNzyshs1S4oE/s1600/Stuffed+Squash+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmEGRnb64QFiz_6ZDFaWlL7DU4Z6tZ2VWZLTnE-0MQqwoica56U1Cmi5QpiGdatlA0nejsFKpIaMeqxK7mjspoJHDjsTg6NJHD7q2toZOedWSdE7G6JkBzJiqh1UdTHB3lNzyshs1S4oE/s640/Stuffed+Squash+4.JPG" width="356" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
It was good but I made too much mixture. I should have made half of this. Also, I tasted too much All Spice. It has some room for improvement.<br />
<br />
By the way, Christmas is approaching before you know it. It is just one week before Christmas!! I am not ready at all but we don't have big Christmas party or anything so I don't feel stressed. We might just go to Manhattan sometime to see the Christmas tree at Rockafellar Center or something like that. It will be nice to do something Christmasy with my family. Also, I would like to make Christmas cookie with my son and husband this weekend :-)<br />
<br />
What is your Christmas plan? Hope everybody is having a great Holiday!<br />

<br />
We had a visitor from Germany and we had so much fun! We did lots of shopping and enjoyed spending time. Our son LOVED having her with us so he as all over her which means I was able to relax a lot ;-)<br />
<br />
One of the things we did while she was here was making a cake called Black Forest Cake.<br />
<br />
I tried to make this cake before by myself but the result was not great. I bought cherry liquor from a local liquor store and used it for the cake. This liquor was so strong that the cake only tasted like the liquor.<br />
<br />
This time, I made it with my friend whose grandma make this cake all the time. She told me that she actually never made it but I was sure she knows how it taste like and how it should look.<br />
<br />
So We baked.<br />
<br />
First of all, making batter was quite easy. Then, we baked. The cake came out very flat and we were not sure how it will turn out but we proceed with the rest of process.<br />
<br />
We cut the cake then brushed with cherry preserve. Then, add whipped cream, then, canned cherry.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUMiUGLTjE7uyLZkuUwtOz6g8TxpJXQCqOH5nB9zpedeBdGFiMIrphgf4iKnYu0WOSSWlZusv_NHnAJvUgYXAUycsJQdIGC4XkO6cEut8nlRX6tYdW4C-plFgZRwFOkA0MJNpBfxJeGt8/s1600/black+forest+cake+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUMiUGLTjE7uyLZkuUwtOz6g8TxpJXQCqOH5nB9zpedeBdGFiMIrphgf4iKnYu0WOSSWlZusv_NHnAJvUgYXAUycsJQdIGC4XkO6cEut8nlRX6tYdW4C-plFgZRwFOkA0MJNpBfxJeGt8/s640/black+forest+cake+1.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
Then more whipped cream. In my book, there is no such a thing as too much whipped cream.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-bQvAgdsY3zkoUWr3SQ_LXlvKjh30i4DtWYJE8JgCd6sXrtB55LCBZncGAwtJInNkgk_P1e3GziJXZtqteYxl2FU4N2hKq3D36Jz_ZDs_P3cHjee4hyphenhyphenH0nUB4t_juMin62n2ayvbeG2s/s1600/black+forest+cake+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-bQvAgdsY3zkoUWr3SQ_LXlvKjh30i4DtWYJE8JgCd6sXrtB55LCBZncGAwtJInNkgk_P1e3GziJXZtqteYxl2FU4N2hKq3D36Jz_ZDs_P3cHjee4hyphenhyphenH0nUB4t_juMin62n2ayvbeG2s/s640/black+forest+cake+2.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Then cover with the other half of the cake. Cover with more whipped cream then topped with canned cherry. I bought this cake decoration turn table while ago. I didn't have a chance to use it till this day but I was happy to use it. It is much easier to decorate cake with this turn table. I know I need more practice but I think this looks OK.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTAuNm4TRU_r_B1xDoN-G1cz8Gs78e9y1q5o7Reds3Nn3jL1dZyjhoWqm2iSAh9UnBwGJQdthDKQZgxy74ths1Ya-t3w5VjhQpar50xXN1QJ783RqG5RMbuuYRiOfkJD7u3NloaxUJwx8/s1600/black+forest+cake+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTAuNm4TRU_r_B1xDoN-G1cz8Gs78e9y1q5o7Reds3Nn3jL1dZyjhoWqm2iSAh9UnBwGJQdthDKQZgxy74ths1Ya-t3w5VjhQpar50xXN1QJ783RqG5RMbuuYRiOfkJD7u3NloaxUJwx8/s640/black+forest+cake+3.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Then sprinkle with shaved chocolate.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhk4TVVmaQeM_lJzfa_V-qFDmElj9-FwjI7oPQmRItEdBseiFWYwBtzFUwVDPO-mn_Sg4XVJ6X4juWbrzQYJPjVXuLZZFAipm1l1r9v4_7KzcSBVvpp0ujYIbgoEj6Pj1WBYNk2Q1nBH9I/s1600/black+forest+cake+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhk4TVVmaQeM_lJzfa_V-qFDmElj9-FwjI7oPQmRItEdBseiFWYwBtzFUwVDPO-mn_Sg4XVJ6X4juWbrzQYJPjVXuLZZFAipm1l1r9v4_7KzcSBVvpp0ujYIbgoEj6Pj1WBYNk2Q1nBH9I/s640/black+forest+cake+4.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
So, I don't have a picture of inside but the color of cake looked little grayish. So next time, I think I will try to add more cocoa power into the batter. Despite the cake color, the taste was super good!<br />
<br />
I didn't put too much cherry liquor this time because my husband and my son would eat also.<br />
<br />
It was really fun making this cake with her. I like cooking with my friends. She came to visit us in California and I remember we baked brownie that time together. If we live close to each other, we will be baking together all the time.<br />
<br />
It was great to have her and I miss her already. She is such a good friends and I feel so comfortable with her. I feel like I don't need to pretend anything. I am glad that I met her through my husband and I am happy that we became good friends!<br />
<br />
I am curious what we will be baking when she come visit us next time :-)<br />

<br />
I love going to Apple picking in fall. A few weeks ago, we went to NJ for apple picking. This year, it was our son's first apple picking so we prepared him by explaining what it is and how to pick an apple.<br />
<br />
I am not sure if he understood completely but he was mimicking us how to pick an apple from a tree and put it in a basket. He also learned a letter A for an apple and he found an apple tree in a book and saying "apple picking! Apple picking!" so he was absolutely excited about it.<br />
<br />
In the past, we went to upstate NY for apple picking but this time we tried going to NJ. We went to this orchard called Sun High Orchard and we absolutely love it there.<br />
<br />
The orchard was not too big and was actually perfect size for us and they had homemade apple cider, apple cider doughnuts, ice cream etc.<br />
<br />
The owner of the orchard came to talk to us and told us about the orchard and which apple is the best right now. He was very friendly and I really liked that.<br />
<br />
They also had some animals like this.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9rlxz9LxhoV4TKavLRp6FIiEp1fN_LHi2nZ-hn_pWZR5ozOgy7uyYk9f06zra7gRzN7ykleJJDnlInFw8jxHIcKFU1ReJ_74zKg0NRbAdaMDneKhAS54NYUUh0j6k-_t7IU0GQF3T62I/s1600/llama.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="356" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9rlxz9LxhoV4TKavLRp6FIiEp1fN_LHi2nZ-hn_pWZR5ozOgy7uyYk9f06zra7gRzN7ykleJJDnlInFw8jxHIcKFU1ReJ_74zKg0NRbAdaMDneKhAS54NYUUh0j6k-_t7IU0GQF3T62I/s640/llama.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Our son enjoyed apple picking so much! The tree was not too tall and there were many apples on the lower part of the tree so my 2 year old son could easily pick them by himself.<br />
<br />
So we got lots of apples in different kinds.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYkci_vOsWUi66Qz1VS9iEOFDFEbP59rBmWgxUsCHJ_v29aVikcRblI8J1l1Xdg7aYNRSi6KvmSRkv2ksRwrf-B3kAtzWNaz_qJ9RovEAcmhf3sBeANghQwzBukmKp9AdiJZtcx_y7tp8/s1600/apple+pie+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYkci_vOsWUi66Qz1VS9iEOFDFEbP59rBmWgxUsCHJ_v29aVikcRblI8J1l1Xdg7aYNRSi6KvmSRkv2ksRwrf-B3kAtzWNaz_qJ9RovEAcmhf3sBeANghQwzBukmKp9AdiJZtcx_y7tp8/s640/apple+pie+1.JPG" width="356" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
It was also Halloween season so there were many pumpkins there. Big pumpkins were bit pricy for us so we bought 4 small ones and those were very very reasonable price. And they are so cute! We gave one to our friend.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5r1IekoA5JE_7zlo96PYa7AkFeJQZx8nr4tQXvwZ9f-GTG4W4PfNimJr3rTMcdOgOkRYLuhp18qD8rkubBHtOMag-Yym_Iqyg2a7pXnuRyyH-P5i4JfFaXAx30bimgMAgE_GtErJKnF4/s1600/pumpkin+2013.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5r1IekoA5JE_7zlo96PYa7AkFeJQZx8nr4tQXvwZ9f-GTG4W4PfNimJr3rTMcdOgOkRYLuhp18qD8rkubBHtOMag-Yym_Iqyg2a7pXnuRyyH-P5i4JfFaXAx30bimgMAgE_GtErJKnF4/s640/pumpkin+2013.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Our son likes apple so he eats apple if I peel them but since we have a lot of them, we decided to bake apple pie. Apple pie is also one of my favorite fall thing. When I smell apple pie, it makes me feel very happy and cozy. Since I am not good with making pie crust or any kind of dough, I decided to cheat and use frozen one. It came out perfectly!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_RVP2su4Ed3_r6KLXUVu1D5FkokTroYGJs6xU7BsG0wvCu8LNMAxwYwTdIeztJHXVqwM8eblRQnvmyUUoW3fLwUqHep76DS6T7DjNW8_dJfGQhynG1cwloyZc9z2cSpfaDt6-FS5pMYM/s1600/apple+pie+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_RVP2su4Ed3_r6KLXUVu1D5FkokTroYGJs6xU7BsG0wvCu8LNMAxwYwTdIeztJHXVqwM8eblRQnvmyUUoW3fLwUqHep76DS6T7DjNW8_dJfGQhynG1cwloyZc9z2cSpfaDt6-FS5pMYM/s640/apple+pie+3.JPG" width="356" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
We ate hot apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It seems like our son enjoyed ice cream more than apple pie but he also ate some apple pie and was very excited that it came from the apple he actually picked himself.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjL0-Lz2G2a2xgnyMBPs5Z06QwlAYLqe16MB6TERgakFEyN-gfXQS8I9HPrz6-aYzzWsA0otESvkSv5j3Aag5-762pBQLzvykebVGpj-M4pN6vvJoqIgYptRWb5TxFUE_Oou4gAKEVFt-s/s1600/apple+pie+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjL0-Lz2G2a2xgnyMBPs5Z06QwlAYLqe16MB6TERgakFEyN-gfXQS8I9HPrz6-aYzzWsA0otESvkSv5j3Aag5-762pBQLzvykebVGpj-M4pN6vvJoqIgYptRWb5TxFUE_Oou4gAKEVFt-s/s640/apple+pie+2.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I am very happy that we took him for apple picking. I didn't think he would enjoy this much!<br />
<br />
So I can check off the apple pie from the list of what I want to make in fall. Next is pumpkin pie and pumpkin soup! Well, actually I already made pumpkin soup so it is only pumpkin pie! Wish me luck!<br />
<br />

<br />
This was a great recipe which I tried for the first time. This recipe is from a Food Network star named Melissa D'arabian. I never made her recipe but I like watching her show because she has so many great little tips for house cook.<br />
<br />
This recipe was not actually from her show but another show called "The best thing I ever made". In this show, many of the chefs and food network personnel share the recipe of the best thing they ever made on the specific topic. This particular episode was one pot wonder.<br />
<br />
She made this using snapper but I used Cod instead since I like cod and cod was on sale at local market. This is really easy and amazing dish if you like fish. Even when you don't like fish, I think you will like this dish if you use mild fish such as cod. My husband is not a big fish fan but he LOVED this dish! My son also ate a lot so this dish is a definitely a keeper!<br />
<br />
If you are interested in the recipe, <a href="http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/melissa-darabian/snapper-with-fennel-onion-and-tomato-recipe/index.html" target="_blank">click here to go to Food Network site for her recipe</a>.<br />
<br />
<br />
First, you cook Fennel and Onion in a pan.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrvmAC442jmrm4R40Z5hx7lytof9t9Bh0sxTMiLLM4fs_znESkoWCNMwGXNsGjCU1VHx2gkeEIcMeB64jTpdLDGwkxWVl13jaSS4xGu04LaNPMr6Lc5Jd3OHmaiT3oq94JdzM0TdpH82M/s1600/Cod+with+Fennel,+Onion+and+Tomato+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrvmAC442jmrm4R40Z5hx7lytof9t9Bh0sxTMiLLM4fs_znESkoWCNMwGXNsGjCU1VHx2gkeEIcMeB64jTpdLDGwkxWVl13jaSS4xGu04LaNPMr6Lc5Jd3OHmaiT3oq94JdzM0TdpH82M/s640/Cod+with+Fennel,+Onion+and+Tomato+1.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Add tomato and saute more.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvmSW3W6lTrtgN6GgTwVTqJFTvToXtgaG-bArs4taM4pV9QcXvbnQtUctsxwMHyvAWL7RS59EJyVafqqJGjjbV7rCxzuOPKEKyWtJOJdJElP-nhw4NYhw-5P81HfMOarLK0l-3vkhjy6s/s1600/Cod+with+Fennel,+Onion+and+Tomato+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvmSW3W6lTrtgN6GgTwVTqJFTvToXtgaG-bArs4taM4pV9QcXvbnQtUctsxwMHyvAWL7RS59EJyVafqqJGjjbV7rCxzuOPKEKyWtJOJdJElP-nhw4NYhw-5P81HfMOarLK0l-3vkhjy6s/s640/Cod+with+Fennel,+Onion+and+Tomato+2.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
When it is soft, add white wine, lemon juice, chicken stock etc.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiTkiqZunnurWiOw0zPR6HAR4-tmfVPBCXxyCaD1qWrHufMZPh3mRL9rV1v1qRthnfATnxmbPi5UepwJf5HvHLyBzTKvkoY4PBUOkHuijlLX9zCpSfBRzrJPUd5FrkDDsEPTLKBI31GQc/s1600/Cod+with+Fennel,+Onion+and+Tomato+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiTkiqZunnurWiOw0zPR6HAR4-tmfVPBCXxyCaD1qWrHufMZPh3mRL9rV1v1qRthnfATnxmbPi5UepwJf5HvHLyBzTKvkoY4PBUOkHuijlLX9zCpSfBRzrJPUd5FrkDDsEPTLKBI31GQc/s640/Cod+with+Fennel,+Onion+and+Tomato+3.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Add Cod (or any fish you like) and top with butter<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAn9bW0QzDu4amlpFjXc1mkx491iCLwXwNaXXT5OyWTnwLpqLZKHS2iMPaJUrBFZzqJFnVKo0-g9pr0A7kjWz4HjuxEWYusMIBn1eRbwu2-BGfjLcnqXYyaF0gjz3-Yk4IR7cle5y5-CM/s1600/Cod+with+Fennel,+Onion+and+Tomato+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAn9bW0QzDu4amlpFjXc1mkx491iCLwXwNaXXT5OyWTnwLpqLZKHS2iMPaJUrBFZzqJFnVKo0-g9pr0A7kjWz4HjuxEWYusMIBn1eRbwu2-BGfjLcnqXYyaF0gjz3-Yk4IR7cle5y5-CM/s640/Cod+with+Fennel,+Onion+and+Tomato+4.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Put it in the oven and bake till the fish is cooked<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZg_e4Qhkd_yd3ra2HCu4lI_PC6QF20f7abmq60qNElLmQnrh0dN-kaZZUv0LVuhDzPFtZGnbzykkyVkUHCsJr-ipDlBVKHZ7uDfnxyLLIBv0PNylpBm771CSD_WQ137m_nfV7piOYYns/s1600/Cod+with+Fennel,+Onion+and+Tomato+5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZg_e4Qhkd_yd3ra2HCu4lI_PC6QF20f7abmq60qNElLmQnrh0dN-kaZZUv0LVuhDzPFtZGnbzykkyVkUHCsJr-ipDlBVKHZ7uDfnxyLLIBv0PNylpBm771CSD_WQ137m_nfV7piOYYns/s640/Cod+with+Fennel,+Onion+and+Tomato+5.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The tricky part is that you have to use a pan which you can also put in the oven. And please be very careful when you take the pan out of the oven. Obviously, the handle is super hot but I forgot about this one time and had a bad burn on my hand so be careful!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqcCt7sxS2Jl2USxdNd3FsVa4vKlPxLur0zQRQOVn2-NVQz8jKo5A-9f-efXV9Ii8bpLiPB7dYHtgE7AhwhblYGBQlU9VpL1NzoThNQcOyvWu1AoPGLAeYpo1M5wKnqZ57Jkrc0yf_YmY/s1600/Cod+with+Fennel,+Onion+and+Tomato+7.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqcCt7sxS2Jl2USxdNd3FsVa4vKlPxLur0zQRQOVn2-NVQz8jKo5A-9f-efXV9Ii8bpLiPB7dYHtgE7AhwhblYGBQlU9VpL1NzoThNQcOyvWu1AoPGLAeYpo1M5wKnqZ57Jkrc0yf_YmY/s640/Cod+with+Fennel,+Onion+and+Tomato+7.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
This is a great easy meal which taste like something from a restaurant. I think you can also make this with Shrimp. Maybe I will try this with Shrimp next time.<br />
<br />
<br />
By the way, I wrote about my son being daddy's boy the other day and that I feel like a third wheel sometimes. Lately, my son tells me that he loves me so many times. When I heard him say this it made me cry. It made me so happy. I understand that my husband spend less time with him and he really play with him when he is with our son so our son want to spend as much time as possible when my husband is at home. But it is also really nice to hear that he loves me also. Our relationship is getting better. Sometimes I think that maybe I was too strict with him. But I am very happy with how he is and very proud of how he interact with other people and hoe caring he is.<br />
<br />
I will keep trying to be genuine and understanding mother. I am not perfect but I am trying. Every kid is different and I have to find what works best for my son. It is not easy sometimes but I am so happy that I can spend all day every day with him and influence him with our point of view and philosophy.<br />
<br />
He is talking a lot now so it is so interesting and funny to have a conversation with him. He makes me laugh a lot and he is learning a lot every day. I thank everyday that he came into my life and I can spend time with him every day.<br />
<br />
Lately, he started asking "Why?". Everything is "Why?" "Why?" He kept asking me why. I think it is great that he is curious but something I feel like he is doing this just to annoy me :-) But I assume that this is an important process for him to learn and I try to explain things over and over. Well, hope he is not kidding with me.<br />
<br />
Growing up, I had my mom at home all the time. It was great to have her at home. If something happens at schools, I can tell her right away when I come home either good or bad. For me, I felt like things I wanted to tell her is not that important if time passes. The excitement or anger will go away with time. I hope I can be there for him when he is super excited or sad or angry and can listen to him when he really want to talk to me. I don't know what the future hold but I know I will always be there for him to listen. I hope he feels that I am always there to listen when he need me.... I guess it is every parent's wish :-)<br />
<br />
Parenthood is not easy but I think you also learn a lot about yourself and my son is making me grow up also.<br />

In the U.S., when you have a cold, people eat Chicken Noodle Soup. Since I have a cold and I made roasted chicken the night before, I decided to make chicken noodle soup.<br />
<br />
Some of you might know already but everytime we have whole roasted chicken, I made chicken stock from the bones of the chicken. If you are interested in how I made my chicken stock, <a href="http://www.7thkitchen.com/2009/09/homemade-chicken-stock.html" target="_blank">here is the recipe.</a> <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwoS0d7gW2ATuyf-j0LxpH3WDdHUvMhoxuwZh7Ls6jr97EZBf4wHGSGu-2T889kkUH0lAFWOqNOAFjt2Z9LHJMe_5RjdBW35Ea3ysKNUqq4mMQLN_aEeVMqzl9f7fJQ0aF7ICkMUTEVbM/s1600/Chicken+noodle+soup+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="223" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwoS0d7gW2ATuyf-j0LxpH3WDdHUvMhoxuwZh7Ls6jr97EZBf4wHGSGu-2T889kkUH0lAFWOqNOAFjt2Z9LHJMe_5RjdBW35Ea3ysKNUqq4mMQLN_aEeVMqzl9f7fJQ0aF7ICkMUTEVbM/s400/Chicken+noodle+soup+1.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
It is super easy and freeze well and much better than store bought chicken stock!<br />
<br />
So, in my opinion, if you have good chicken stock, you can not mess up chicken soup. You just add whatever vegetable you like, add some chicken (or not) and egg noodles.<br />
<br />
Here is what I did,<br />
Chopped ginger and green onion<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWQhSPlLIo77VyY8KHmWNVmNslLMrk_wfO8xtiEIUCod0AjXi3T1pfYTTdpxVahFFbJV_t-QKjs8EulmcVGAV7Ct3emF48514pzmUqMSsj-J7L6BPuwy5SnNu7xSIq5grcVP2MZlTlXuk/s1600/chicken+noodle+soup+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="223" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWQhSPlLIo77VyY8KHmWNVmNslLMrk_wfO8xtiEIUCod0AjXi3T1pfYTTdpxVahFFbJV_t-QKjs8EulmcVGAV7Ct3emF48514pzmUqMSsj-J7L6BPuwy5SnNu7xSIq5grcVP2MZlTlXuk/s400/chicken+noodle+soup+2.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Saute them in a pot with olive oil.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkA-kcpZO3kesRJS68SfIMjPqgwE9ME2iDbaz_IGRB-g7NO-OFM43_RB1sLuE6EilUArmnhx3RrXLbqndNLonfrqo00F4gQdjUuvkmh2trJ6izI1zNVtSAaEIEXs0Sx-EHS46wpuGW7hU/s1600/chicken+noodle+soup+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="223" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkA-kcpZO3kesRJS68SfIMjPqgwE9ME2iDbaz_IGRB-g7NO-OFM43_RB1sLuE6EilUArmnhx3RrXLbqndNLonfrqo00F4gQdjUuvkmh2trJ6izI1zNVtSAaEIEXs0Sx-EHS46wpuGW7hU/s400/chicken+noodle+soup+3.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Chop other vegetables of your liking. I used carrot, zucchini, celery and red bell pepper.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3XuoyDvhB3pMb6aaQWV4Ol2amdy6G_R5o0xvywG1mx5J8tgzjEeLerRzj4Am1H6FW8LW_lej-uRsZuXBsbYli5xdJYyD4VXzicRtJuLNzEUbF3J4k6te2oRcXlJvqKWfKLGzwvMUSzD0/s1600/chicken+noodle+soup+9.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="223" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3XuoyDvhB3pMb6aaQWV4Ol2amdy6G_R5o0xvywG1mx5J8tgzjEeLerRzj4Am1H6FW8LW_lej-uRsZuXBsbYli5xdJYyD4VXzicRtJuLNzEUbF3J4k6te2oRcXlJvqKWfKLGzwvMUSzD0/s400/chicken+noodle+soup+9.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Toss them in the pot.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxnfj5x0MLxie8v6NtoHkDGcrkfwUT05XzL4GFDfhnMG4aH7AZiNA4EgHUBhkM_1ctAzYG0iaMqDd__KETli5dsFbXuTKC5gxzzowOQqneSxEilgY12z5mAZi4RIpIPJ69j9Sl_B1hYXA/s1600/chicken+noodle+soup+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="223" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxnfj5x0MLxie8v6NtoHkDGcrkfwUT05XzL4GFDfhnMG4aH7AZiNA4EgHUBhkM_1ctAzYG0iaMqDd__KETli5dsFbXuTKC5gxzzowOQqneSxEilgY12z5mAZi4RIpIPJ69j9Sl_B1hYXA/s400/chicken+noodle+soup+4.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
When the vegetables are tender, add chicken stock. Bring it to boil, add egg noodle. Cook.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvX3ytjcqbfCELSUlNrUEeFvBl4SlNQmEhN1CIRANyxgkjSoud2d29QeZYQWaCTBBna7BxBDmWgNhWnFYTNq48AmQuoBR_5Zxnum2cnzyBgSyZuF0c-GgFWNotPq3pa_IHXwtBJDjfG7k/s1600/chicken+noodle+soup+5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="223" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvX3ytjcqbfCELSUlNrUEeFvBl4SlNQmEhN1CIRANyxgkjSoud2d29QeZYQWaCTBBna7BxBDmWgNhWnFYTNq48AmQuoBR_5Zxnum2cnzyBgSyZuF0c-GgFWNotPq3pa_IHXwtBJDjfG7k/s400/chicken+noodle+soup+5.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Then add cooked chicken, heat it through add salt and pepper for taste and done!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIrLolbnj2NWV0scQ2OoaETS2Ji5t4a1K_qtwAb6gcPCV-8kZxHrPwdTfJzQfa88g0s6r5e3eKW93LwOj8mKqVEjOf8IVz1uGmKTQ6r7p6bVDHWU5SLPaTEJ_W_yPy_fpq-g20HRrbj10/s1600/chicken+noodle+soup+6.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="223" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIrLolbnj2NWV0scQ2OoaETS2Ji5t4a1K_qtwAb6gcPCV-8kZxHrPwdTfJzQfa88g0s6r5e3eKW93LwOj8mKqVEjOf8IVz1uGmKTQ6r7p6bVDHWU5SLPaTEJ_W_yPy_fpq-g20HRrbj10/s400/chicken+noodle+soup+6.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHWueOEmWTjeuYGsuIMoS2l3bm03PFnrJzR_gqVPwXv7SCbA-KBqXktFHqSQEN_CxZ9i8hw_z72HAkxR3Zg60004otpZY4pzEcfhbII7t8HUwB_uxaiKEn1yNjOch4462pV_00UyvcvbU/s1600/chicken+noodle+soup+8.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="223" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHWueOEmWTjeuYGsuIMoS2l3bm03PFnrJzR_gqVPwXv7SCbA-KBqXktFHqSQEN_CxZ9i8hw_z72HAkxR3Zg60004otpZY4pzEcfhbII7t8HUwB_uxaiKEn1yNjOch4462pV_00UyvcvbU/s400/chicken+noodle+soup+8.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
It is super easy and nutritious and kids love it also. It is chicken noodle soup but I sometimes omit chicken.<br />
<br />
Enjoy!<br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizjQWBv9WNVASwsZSI2zKOY5ZlXKJRE5I3n1VhCjj0FRcna-qSi9hR15bGcKh56CZszIsrVYX37LzNdfhHoFakf7Q5r-k82lSH00UAX2HKKJ8fqVuMDsakkRIaEWw5GXXmC9dS-DnmnhI/s1600/roasted+chicken+salsa+verdi+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizjQWBv9WNVASwsZSI2zKOY5ZlXKJRE5I3n1VhCjj0FRcna-qSi9hR15bGcKh56CZszIsrVYX37LzNdfhHoFakf7Q5r-k82lSH00UAX2HKKJ8fqVuMDsakkRIaEWw5GXXmC9dS-DnmnhI/s640/roasted+chicken+salsa+verdi+2.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I saw this recipe on a commercial one day. Iron Chef Michael Symon was showing this recipe. When I make salsa verde, I always think about Skirt Stake and that is what I always did so seeing him poruing salsa verde over the roasted chicken was quite a revelation to me.<br />
<br />
Michael Symon is one of the Iron Chef on the food network show in the U.S. I always liked him but I got to meet him in person and take a photo with him last year. He was really nice and friendly so I like him even more now.<br />
<br />
Even though I liked him, this was actually my first time trying his recipe. It was pretty straight forward and came out really good.<br />
<br />
The whole chicken was on sale this week so I decided to try this recipe.<br />
<br />
Here is the link for his recipe on The Cooking Channel website. <a href="http://www.cookingchanneltv.com/recipes/michael-symon/roasted-chicken-with-salsa-verde.html" target="_blank">Click Here. </a><br />
<br />
The chicken came out juicy and flavorful from the lemon and herb. His recipe didn't call for the other stuff around the chicken but I tossed some potato and onion in it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVM8WDPULCmMjCrEyD5FSxULuVIR2Rz0W4t5ZQKZ6Uk-jaSRXFz84hQwJcMI9IJIXBTs_033_hwQ2ZQCO4-as6o65bchCIEVFECo92oVZ0t6wn_a0snBXGHW6tCaIHqPQr-0WdgmrcydE/s1600/roasted+chicken+salsa+verdi+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVM8WDPULCmMjCrEyD5FSxULuVIR2Rz0W4t5ZQKZ6Uk-jaSRXFz84hQwJcMI9IJIXBTs_033_hwQ2ZQCO4-as6o65bchCIEVFECo92oVZ0t6wn_a0snBXGHW6tCaIHqPQr-0WdgmrcydE/s640/roasted+chicken+salsa+verdi+1.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
My son and my husband loved it also. What makes this chicken special is the salsa verde. My son helped me to make it and he was tasting it while we made. It is quite strong taste but he liked it.<br />
<br />
This salsa verde has anchovies in it. I didn't tell this to my husband since he is not a big fan of fish. But he loved this sauce so I was very happy. (He might change his opinion if I tell him that there is anchovies in it though..)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4nf5-KujM8_hGP9_8Ivns7jyARLeY1T1eTskCVVa0s0ai3t7_A5Dey7RW7VQwtv-H7aoFJyZaJvcGoLr0wU8wkYpu28AN0sW0xz3Mbk_tD_LBx1ROWKhzBFynCOsdpgHKwH5MfHhPNb0/s1600/roasted+chicken+salsa+verdi+3+.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4nf5-KujM8_hGP9_8Ivns7jyARLeY1T1eTskCVVa0s0ai3t7_A5Dey7RW7VQwtv-H7aoFJyZaJvcGoLr0wU8wkYpu28AN0sW0xz3Mbk_tD_LBx1ROWKhzBFynCOsdpgHKwH5MfHhPNb0/s640/roasted+chicken+salsa+verdi+3+.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The air is getting cooler and time to use oven again. Roasted Chicken is a perfect family meal which makes everyone happy. (Plus, you can make chicken broth with the leftover bones!)<br />
<br />
<br />
By the way, my 2 year old son is definitely being 2 years old lately. He has a strong will sometimes and if he doesn't like something, he really doesn't like it even when it is a small thing.<br />
<br />
Also, he is such an artist so he draw something and even when I think it looks great, if he doesn't like it somehow, he gets upset and cross it out. I think he is very good at drawing and I am so curious how his drawing develop over time.<br />
<br />
He is also very much a daddy's boy. He is so attached to him and if my husband is home, he want to do everything with his daddy. Sometimes when I come over to them, he tells me to go somewhere else. I am happy that he loves his daddy but at the same time it makes me so sad that he doesn't want me around. He is not like that when he is alone with me but when his daddy is home, I am a third wheel.<br />
<br />
Normally, I am OK with it but when he cry and screams for his daddy when I am right in front of him, I feel useless and sad. <br />
<br />
I was talking about this to my mother the other day and my mom told me that he is like me when I was little. I was not that extreme but I was definitely daddy's girl and I didn't like it when my mom was close to my dad. She told me don't worry and don't feel bad about it. She assured me that my son loves me. So I guess my son got this from me. This kind of made me laugh.<br />
<br />
I am glad that I talked to my mom. She always makes me feel good and make me feel like everything is going to be fine :-) She knows exactly what I need to hear. I hope I can be like my mom to my son. I want to make him feel good and happy and safe :-)<br />
